Panel Training

Panel Project. We recruit, and train people care leavers to support them to become fostering / adoption panel members run by Local Authority and Private Fostering and Adoption agencies. The panels’ primary role is to make a recommendation regarding approval of Foster Carers and Adoptive Carers.

There is a need for diversity and differing perspectives within panels’ and we recognise that people with care experience have a unique and valuable contribution to make in the process of approving foster carers and adopters. The training and support we provide aims to equip care leavers with the skills required to take on the role of a panel member, whilst acknowledging the complexities of utilising personal experience in a professional context. Once the training is completed participants are added to our register of Care Experienced Panel Members and able to gain paid freelance panel work with an LA and or private fostering and adoption agencies
